Maxwell Maltz was an American cosmetic surgeon who became a pioneer in the self-help movement.
Born in 1899, he practiced plastic surgery in New York City for many years before turning his attention to the psychological aspects of self-image.
His observations of patients' transformations post-surgery led him to develop the concepts in Psycho-Cybernetics.
Published in 1960, the book became a bestseller and established Maltz as a leading figure in personal development.
He went on to write several more books and lecture extensively on his ideas until his death in 1975.
