Marty Smith

Marty Smith was born in 1959 and grew up in Washington, DC, and Omaha, Nebraska.

He attended Kent State University from 1977-1982, studying Architecture with minors in Partying and the Society For Creative Anachronisms.

After moving to North Carolina, he worked as a draftsman for local architects and held various other jobs.

Smith was a volunteer DJ at WXDU, Duke's student radio station, from 1986-2009.

He is a member of the Carolina Bear Lodge and St. John's Metropolitan Community Church.

Smith married his husband Robin unofficially in 2005 and legally in 2015.
