Gloria Marie Steinem is a renowned American feminist, journalist, and activist born in 1934.
She gained national recognition as a leader of the women's liberation movement in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine and wrote for New York magazine.
Her 1969 article "After Black Power, Women's Liberation" catapulted her to fame as a feminist leader.
In 2005, she co-founded the Women's Media Center with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan.
